Introduction • Robin Murphy had his first love for history of medicine. • While going through many medical literatures he came across some homeopathic journals from 1800's . He was shocked to see the plethora of literature available on homeopathy . He then developed more & more interest in the homeopathy ; studied many journals , books , cases in materials • In 1980s he did single course in homeopathy . In the beginning , his prescriptions were based on Boericke & Clarke manuals . Later he become fond of kentin school & practiced classical homeopathy for long time . • Robin murphy has a great interest in medical alchemy - the Egyptian medicine and gave similarity with paracelsus work & philosophical principles of paracelsus - Sulphur , Mercury , Salt with Basic theory of sulphur & acids ; the miasmatic theory • He also believed that the doctrine of vital Force is taken from Archeus principles by Paracelsus medicine • Robin Murphy also feels that Sympathetic Medicine , i.e. the "right apod" for homeopathy because it has compassion for the patient by curing them naturally & least side effects .

Philosophical Background • Homeopathic Medical Repertory is based on the principles of clinical as well as classical homeopathic practice . • The author's aim is to make it a modern , Practical & easy reference book , enriched & many clinical as well as pathological rubrics. • This is unique repertory which helps in "Practitioner" to find out similimum on the basis of clinical as well as classical symp . • The author has merged both types of practice . • He says ; "If you do only one type , you are a half homeopath . Learn to prescribe according to the case" . • He further states "The right way to Prescribe is revealed in the case & by the results that you get , not by some old (Hahnem) & principles .

Plan & Construction • It follows a unique Plan of Abdomen to wrist arranged alphabetically to facilitate easy reference work . • 1st edition — contains 67 chapters 2nd edition — contains 70 chapters 3 chapters are added that are constitution , disease & headache

3rd edition — 4 chapters of 2nd edition i.e. Blood , Pulse , emergency & nervous are merged into one chapter as Clinical • Delusion chapter is merged • Mind • Environment chap is merged & Generals . • There are 10 new chap added to 3rd edition they are Cancer , Clinical , Fainting , Fall bladder , Speech - Speech , Taste, time , vaccination & weakness . • So total no of chap = 74

Concept of Totality • Murphy's concept of totality is based on clinical as well as classical homeopathic practice . • It embraces the principles of Kent's Generals , Boenninghausen's complete symptoms , Boger's Pathological Generals . • He d believes in constructing the totality as per the details available in the case .
