Non-Repertorial Approaches to Prescription

Content

Non-Repertorial Approaches to Prescription –

A) Prescription Based upon Constitution

  • Depending upon physical makeup & outstanding expression (gestures, complexion, sex, age, etc.).
  • Example: Fair complexion, blue eyes, blonde hair, gentleness calls for Pulsatilla.

B) Based upon Characteristic Symptoms

  • Kent gives importance to general characteristics of the person → because they represent the patient as a whole.
  • Also Dr. Barthel & Klunker also worked upon only Kent’s General symptoms.

C) Based upon Causation

  • Many remedies have relation to various kinds of conditions; they arise from— e.g.: Arnica removes the bad effects caused by falls. Ruta relieves the effect of bruised bones. AIF – disappointed love → Aur, Bell, Bufo
  • Dr. Boger has given more importance to the causative modalities & classified as to Internal cause → Psora, Sycosis, Syphilis External cause → Mental causative factor, Physical causative factor, Traumatic, Due to exposure

D) On the Basis of Suppression

  • Different ways of suppression
  1. Suppression of mental state
  2. Emotions
  3. Natural discharge
  4. Non-homoeo Rx
  5. External application
  • As a result of suppression → the energy released gets deviated in diff manifestation & seen in the form of internal major organ affection.

E) On the Basis of Miasm

  • Especially in chronic condition, identification of miasm is necessary and by knowledge of miasm, anti-miasmatic remedies are prescribed.
  • Antipsoric → Antisyphilitic remedies are prescribed respectively (e.g., for Psora, Sycosis & Syphilitic miasm).

F) On the Basis of Nosodes & Bowel Nosodes

  • Indication of nosodes a) When suitable medicine fail to act b) It acts as an intercurrent c) In order to clean up the case d) Blockage of miasm e) Never well since syndrome
  • Bowel nosodes a) Non-lactose fermentation of intestinal flora b) In order to clean the system from Poison

G) On the Basis of Organopathic Medicines

  • Act esp. on the seat of disease or affection of particular organ e.g.: – Heart affection → Cactus, Digitalis, Adonis, Naja – Liver affection → Chel, Myrica, Carduus mur – Kidney affection → Berberis, Sarsaparilla
  • Organ affinities of drug are well understood from Clinical Repertories.

H) On Basis of Lab Investigations

  • In absence of generals or characteristic particulars, many times pathological lab helps to get out group of remedies e.g.: Murphy Repertory
  • Rubrics like – Protein in urea, Acetone in urine, bloody urine, Sugar in urine

I) On Basis of Tautopathy

  • Process of killing the bad effects by the modern system of medicine with their own medicine e.g.: in TB case → long term use of streptomycin cause auditory nerve affection → bad effects are removed by Streptomyces in Potentised form

J) On Basis of Allergy

  • A state of hypersensitivity of the body to a specific substance incited by Allergen or antigen
  • In such allergic → administration of same substance in potentised form often relieves hypersensitivity

K) Prescribing Placebo

  • Placebo means “to please” = A second best remedy in Homoeopathy

Additional Keypoints Added for Completeness

  • Non-repertorial approaches are crucial in one-sided, pathological, suppressed, or acute cases where full symptom totality is unavailable.
  • They bridge the gap between strict classical prescribing and practical clinical needs, often used as intercurrents or palliatives.
  • Ultimate goal remains individualization; these methods support the search for the simillimum when repertorization alone is insufficient.
