CLASSIFICATION OF REPERTORY

Classification of Repertory is the grouping of symptoms into categories for easy reference and analysis. Definition of Repertory: A repertory is a comprehensive collection of symptoms, remedies, and their relationships โ†’

Repertories can be classified into three main types:

  1. General Repertories: These include Kent's Repertory, Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocket Book, and Boericke's Repertory โ†’ These repertories include a wide range of symptoms and remedies and are used as a reference for all types of cases โ†’ General repertories are ideal for beginners as they cover a broad spectrum of symptoms and remedies โ†’

  2. Special Repertories: These include repertories for specific diseases or conditions like Respiratory Repertory, Eye Repertory, etc. โ†’ Special repertories are more focused and contain symptoms and remedies specific to a particular disease or condition โ†’ Special repertories are useful for advanced practitioners who have a good understanding of homeopathy and its applications โ†’

  3. Analytical Repertories: These include repertories like Boger's BCRC, etc. that provide a detailed analysis of symptoms and remedies โ†’ Analytical repertories offer a deeper insight into the relationships between symptoms and remedies โ†’ Analytical repertories are useful for advanced practitioners who need to analyze complex cases โ†’

Kent's Repertory is based on the principle of 'similarity' where the symptoms of a patient are matched with the symptoms of the remedy โ†’ Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocket Book is based on the principle of 'contrasting' where the symptoms of a patient are contrasted with the symptoms of the remedy โ†’ Boger's BCRC is based on the principle of 'analogy' where the symptoms of a patient are matched with the symptoms of the remedy based on their similarities โ†’

Repertories are also classified based on their structure:

  1. Alphabetical Repertories: These include Kent's Repertory, Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocket Book, etc. โ†’ Alphabetical repertories use an alphabetical arrangement of symptoms and remedies โ†’ Alphabetical repertories are easy to use and understand โ†’

  2. Synthetic Repertories: These include Boericke's Repertory, etc. that use a combination of alphabetical and synthetic arrangement โ†’ Synthetic repertories offer a more comprehensive view of symptoms and remedies โ†’ Synthetic repertories are useful for advanced practitioners who need to analyze complex cases โ†’

Repertories are essential tools for homeopaths as they provide a comprehensive collection of symptoms, remedies, and their relationships โ†’ Repertories help homeopaths to analyze complex cases and find the most suitable remedy โ†’ Repertories are continually updated and expanded to include new symptoms and remedies โ†’
