Simultaneous Medium

  • Symptoms occur simultaneously in a patient
  • Example: Headache and Backache
  • Application: For patients with multiple symptoms that occur together
  • Advantages: Covers multiple symptoms at once, easy to apply
  • Disadvantages: May be too broad, requires careful analysis

Boenninghausen's Philosophy

  • General medium is considered first
  • If general medium does not match, particular medium is considered
  • If particular medium does not match, symptoms are analyzed individually

Kent's Philosophy

  • Particular medium is considered first
  • If particular medium does not match, general medium is considered
  • If general medium does not match, symptoms are analyzed individually

Boger's Philosophy

  • Symptoms are analyzed individually and matched with symptoms in the repertory
  • Medium is not considered unless symptoms are matched individually

Construction of Medium

  • Symptoms are combined using โ†’ AND โ†’ OR โ†’
  • General medium is constructed by combining general symptoms
  • Particular medium is constructed by combining symptoms specific to a particular part of the body
  • Simultaneous medium is constructed by combining symptoms that occur simultaneously in a patient

Analysis of Medium

  • Symptoms are analyzed to determine if they match the medium
  • If symptoms match, patient is considered a candidate for the remedy
  • If symptoms do not match, medium is revised or new medium is constructed
